After-Care
How You Take Care of Your New Tattoo is Incredibly Important
To ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and retains its vibrancy, please follow these detailed aftercare instructions:
-Remove Bandage: Take off the bandage within 1-3 hours after your tattoo session. This allows your skin to breathe.
-Wash Your Hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your new tattoo to prevent infection.
-Clean Your Tattoo: Gently clean your tattoo at least twice a day using lukewarm water and antibacterial soap. Pat it dry with a clean towel. Wash after any sweaty activity, and make sure to wash it in the morning and at night.
-Apply Ointment: After cleaning, apply a light layer of ointment (such as Aquaphor) to your tattoo 2-3 times daily for the first two weeks. This helps keep the tattoo moisturized and aids in healing.
-Avoid Picking: If scabs develop, resist the urge to pick at them. Scratching or picking can cause scabs to fall off prematurely, leading to loss of color and detail. Remember, scabbing is a normal part of the healing process!
-Sun Protection: Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least the first few weeks. UV rays can fade your tattoo and increase the risk of infection. Always use sunscreen with high SPF once your tattoo is healed.
-Avoid Swimming: Stay away from swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, and oceans during the healing period, as these can introduce bacteria and cause infections.
-Use Clean Linens: Always use clean sheets and towels. This minimizes the risk of irritation and infection during the healing process.
-Be Prepared for Ink Transfer: It’s normal to get some ink on clothing and linens for the first few days. Wear old clothes and be mindful of surfaces that may come into contact with your tattoo.
Important Reminder
Not following these aftercare guidelines may lead to adverse changes in your tattoo, and our artists will not be held responsible for any issues that arise. Taking care of your new tattoo is essential for ensuring it heals well and looks stunning for years to come!
If you need a touch-up, it will be free as long as it’s within two months of your original appointment and is due to natural causes (not due to lack of care or picking at scabs). After the two-month period or in cases of inadequate care, a $40 supply fee will apply for touch-ups.
